Amanda Watson has over a decade of experience as a fine art photographer in the wedding industry. At the end of a busy wedding season one year, she felt the need to create a portfolio that reflected the creative ideas and concepts in her mind. She settled down with a cup of coffee and wrote a wish list - a photography bucket list, if you will. This list consisted of concepts, specific scenes and themes of shoots that inspired her and got her heart and mind excited for the year to come. For the following year, she challenged herself to bring the list to life and cross things off one by one.
"That was quite a year for myself and my business. I saw so much growth both creatively and socially. It was a lot of hard work but it helped instill concepts in my mind that I continue to use every time I shoot."
Through this experience, Amanda created her dream portfolio as well as ignited a passion to help others do the same.
"I just so happen to love the planning and styling side as much as the photography side but I noticed many other creatives aren't quite the same. I had a number of photographers reach out to ask questions and learn more and it started the journey to host workshops and help others learn how to juggle all the things."
Amanda has since hosted several Amanda Watson Workshops and helped numerous photographers to build their skills and portfolio. Her passion for mentoring in a very hands-on way has grown.
"I absolutely loved the workshops however I quickly noticed that workshops are not 'one size fits all' and saw a need for a unique, one-of-a-kind personalized experience that would give the photographer a portfolio that is exclusive to them as well as personal access to the tips and tricks I have learned over the years."
So Amanda started Amanda Watson Designs, a completely customized shooting experience designed and dedicated to a single photographer. Amanda Watson Designs can also help plan and coordinate your workshop and/or wedding work - her passion is to execute your vision!
"I've been in business now for about 8 years, but with being a new mom my time has been really pulled between learning life with a little one and serving my clients. I didn't have time to dedicate to coordinate pulling together all the vendors and items for a styled shoot that inspired me. Amanda took the leg work out of putting a styled shoot together, and allowed me to scratch the itch to photograph a creative shoot." - Elyse Fair, Ely Fair Photography
